Three People Now in Jail for Refusing to Talk About Other Anarchists

Solidarity

Leah Plante appeared before a federal grand jury for the third time yesterday, and for the third time she refused to talk about her politics and other anarchists. She was taken into custody on civil contempt, and is now imprisoned at SEA-TAC in Seattle, Washington. Plante joins two other anarchists, Matt Duran and Katherine "KteeO" Olejnik, who have chosen to make the same principled stand.

A letter from Alexey Sutuga, imprisoned in Moscow

Solidarity

Yet another period of our remand imprisonment is approaching its end, but I am certain, that we will be kept locked up a few months more, even without any developments whatsoever in the fabricated criminal case against us. You already know the details of our arrest and the violations connected to it, but now I want to share with you my thoughts regarding the political context surrounding our case. In my opinion, the main goal of the investigation is to bring the criminal charge of "creating an extremist organisation" targeted against social groups of "fascists, Nazis and racists".

World Premiere of Long Distance Revolutionary: A Journey with Mumia Abu-Jamal

On October 6, the new documentary film entitled Long Distance Revolutionary: A Journey with Mumia Abu-Jamal, will be making its world premiere at the Mill Valley Film Festival, just north of San Francisco.   Mumia Abu-Jamal is a veteran journalist, author of seven books, and a former Black Panther who was convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of white Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner in a 1982 trial deemed unfair by Amnesty International and many others. Abu-Jamal, who has always maintained his innocence, spent almost 30 years in solitary confinement on death row in Pennsylvania. The death sentence has now been officially overturned and since early in 2012, Abu-Jamal is out of solitary and in general population at SCI-Mahony, with such new ‘privileges’ as contact visits with family and friends.

PNW Resisters: Grand Jury Reportback

SolidarityI arrived just before noon, and wrote down events and times as I saw them. I'm only going to report what I had written here and spare artistic license for when I can collect my thoughts.

@~12:20pm we reached about 100-200 people, the critical mass which held for several hours.

From 11:30 - 2:20 the law enforcement presence was ~15 Federal Protective Service(FPS), 2 of which patrolled the courtyard and 5 more walked around the entrance above the stairs. There were ~10 SPD bike cops, and US Marshals who stayed inside the building.

Neka and Alberto are well-known for their years of social justice organizing with the MTD Solano and currently with the Movement of Collectives. Their house was built collectively on squatter-occupied land and served as a gathering space for organizing the movement and community.
