A SINLGLE MOM WORKING THESE HOURS CANT PICKET, BUT I DROP OFF HUGS ,HONKS AND FOOD AND PRAY THIS IS OVER SOON , WITH POSITIVE OUTCOME.... ALOT OF POEPLE ARE STEPPING OUTSIDE THEIR COMFORT ZONES TO HELP US AND IF IT DOESNT WORK OUT IN OUR FAIRNESS I WOULD THINK THE AARP WOULD BE TYING UP ALOT TOO AND THE MEDICAL STATE AIDE SYSTEMS WOULD BE DELUGED WITH CLAIMS

I do not know the destribution networks. Probably a large share of corporate farm food. Their are most likely some small farmers, farm laborers and other related workers who may also be affected. Mutual Aid and solidarity with these workers would also be a priority.

yea, i would hope that SoCal anarchists are intervening in any way possible. a good suggestion would be \'monkeywrenching\' as customers.

it\'s amazing how often anarchists mention the need to link up with the working class, and then when labor unrest breaks out, anarchists are nowhere to be seen...
such was the case during the buildup to the NYC transit strike (which never happened), the western ports last year, the yale workers\' strike, and now this strike.

these have been high-profile national strikes which have seen very little intervention by radical anti-capitalists...
instead, most radicals are either bitching about how moderate the unions are, or planning logistics for the next riot.

I took some donuts over to the Vons picket line near my house and briefly chatted with the workers about the IWW and other things. They were cool and appreciated the sentiment.

I had to leave, however, because I had a 9 mile bike ride across town to make class.

I offered some Doc Martens shoes to any of the strikers that Buffalo Exchange said were to worn for them to buy.

I\'ll email the idea of stirring up some more chaos on the inside to some homeless and punk kids I know.

The punk rock in me wants to fuck shit up on the inside of the big 3. It\'s my understanding that this is over health care benefits being cut, which will affect millions of people that don\'t work there: sons and daughters of workers that do, workers looking for work, etcetera. So this affects us and we should act.

But then the other side of me says that we could alienate the workers if they don\'t approve of theft, mixing up the food in the wrong aisles, accidentally breaking stuff, taking a really long time in the check-out, and then not paying, etcetera. After all, the workers create the wealth of these stores. It\'s them that should figure out what should be done with the remaining wealth resting on the shelves. Right now they are saying don\'t buy it, and don\'t deliver it. Maybe it would be a good idea to see if any locals approve of escalating things on the inside. If we could then find some locals that are willing to endorse what the law defines as criminal, then put the call out for a shoplifters convergence...

also it affect ALL the retirees! ive found the workers think its cool to fill up carts and abandon them and even steal, other stuff they arent so found of. but going in the back where the trucks are/recieving you can make a huge mess glueing locks, stealing pallet jacks, bread carts etc etc, plus as long as you arent directly doing it in the name of the union, i dont think they care much about the store and \"creating the wealth of the store\" type stuff, from what ive heard from them they want as much money to go down the drain just about any way possible, but dont really want ot be directly associated w/ it.

We longies really could have used some help during the lockout on the ports of the West Coast last year. Imagine what could have been accomplished with thousands of people on the streets, causing trouble and letting Bush know that he couldn\'t get away with ordering LOCKED OUT workers back to work under the EMPLOYERS\' terms.

As it turned out, he pretty much did get away with it. Because there was nothing to indicate to him, or to the people watching at home on their televisions, that anybody other than the longshoremen themselves cared.

Mind you, ILWU has always been really good about supporting radical causes, even going so far as to vehemently oppose NAFTA and the WTO even though it would have meant an increase in work for us, at least in the short term (we unload and load those ships, after all). We were in the streets with the WTO protesters, but when we got locked out we were on our own. Not crying, just pointing out that protesting symbols (meetings, a presidential visit, etc.) is one thing, but sometimes you have to get out there and *stop* shit from happening.

You don\'t have to \"trash\" any of the wealth that the workers created. The idea here is to divert the resources of the management/scabs inside the store from actually running the store to dealing with all the displaced groceries. Also, those scabs really shouldn\'t have it as easy as they do, just crossing picket lines with impunity; neither should those shoppers who put convenience over principle. Screw \'em.

Also, the strikers usually find it quite hilarious when you tell them what you\'ve done. My friend and I got thumbs-ups and smiles from the picketing clerks at VONS today, when we told them what we\'d just finished doing. The scab checker, on the other hand, didn\'t find it amusing at all...

if you guys could get 25+ people to go into a albertsons/ralphs/vons and fill up one basket each and leave at the same time it would be very affective

Heck yeah, it would be effective. But two people can be pretty doggoned effective by themselves, if they fill the cart to the brim with perishables and small items, and let it be rung up at the checkstand. That\'s a lot of stuff to put back, and some of it has to be put back right away. Make sure you go to different checkstands!
