can anyone spell Iraq?
Try P-A-L-E-S-T-I-N-E.
only this time, the US is the occupier, not just a supporter. if activists state-side want to build an effective anti-Iraq-occupation movement without reinventing the wheel, we would do well to observe the history and current objectives and projects of the Israeli anti-occupation activists. just a thought.

For those who read about the actions of the US in Vietnam, the similarities are uncanny. [br]
In response to a lack of \"co-operation\" from vietnamese villagers and farmers, soldiers -whether by order or by their own initiative- would raze villages, farms, etc, as a punishment. And we know what the outcome of that little excursion was... [br]
The second last paragraph gives a rather practical reason why it wouldn\'t be in one\'s best interest to \'\"confess.\"

I\'m sure they know what these types of actions are going to create. It\'s not like the US has stepped out of some cave. More instability, more \"terrorists\" just means the US will HAVE to stay in control that much longer and keep as much control as possible. The same sort of strategy Israel uses. Their actions piss people off, people retaliate the only way poor and completely desperate people can, then the occupying force HAS to retaliate and take more control, right? If they withdraw, they are just rewarding these \"terrorists,\" so they have to stay as occupiers indefinitely.

Don\'t worry, the US government is rich and the people are stupid and lazy. It\'ll cost a fortune, but the money can be taken from social programs and borrowed for later generations to worry about.

seems like the only way the troops are ever going to be pulled out of there is when too many of them have died and the general public starts getting mad about it. \"bring em on\" i guess.

Yay! Way to win people\'s cooperation! If the US troops keep up the great work, they\'ll win humanitarian awards for sure. In case you can\'t tell, I\'m being sarcastic.

From the Fourth Geneva Convention
(CONVENTION (IV) RELATIVE TO THE PROTECTION OF CIVILIAN PERSONS IN TIME OF WAR)

\"Art. 33. No protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.\"

Nice to know that we have joined the Israelis in violating international law in the spirit of occupation (and their experience has been so successful and gratifying).

Sorry, anger, they don\'t. This has been US policy
for 50 years now: \"Do what\'s in American interests
because there are no consequences for us.\"

The US supported communism by making democracy
impossible in many nations (Nicaragua, Greece,
Cuba, among many others) and created islamic
fundamentalist terrorism by supporting the Shah -
whom, I might add, the US installed by toppling a
*democratic* Iranian government that was not a
stooge of the US.

The US is not a victim of terrorism. A recipient,
for certain, but not a victim. To be a victim
requires one not doing anything to incite the
attack on oneself.
