if only i could muster .000001/8th of the innovation and guts these people demonstrate!! a rationalization perhaps in my defense, but i think it helps to know you\'ve got the support of more than two people.

An Italian firefighter leaves the spot where anti-globalization protesters gutted an employment agency near the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome\'s EUR district, Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003. (AP Photo/Pier Paolo Cito)

This seems like something that could be easily construed as being an action that hurts working class people at large... can anyone respond to that? Plus, I love the \"a protestor bleeds following clashes with Italian riot police\" bit... what an excellent example of neutralizing a sentence... the only action taking place is that of the protestor bleeding from his head, casually, as if having a cigarette. Why the hell is this man sitting here, blocked in place by riot police with shields, bleeding all over the top and side of his head?

I wanna start seeing more \"several police officers were injured in the demonstrations\" to at least balance things out... we should be consciously pushing our fighting style in the direction of things which impede on the ability of riot police to do what they do... we\'re simply going nuts and rioting until they manage to win enough battles here and there to crush us entirely... paint a few officer\'s faceshields and see whether or not they can still hit you.

our situation is different in the us. people who show up to protests tend to be college activists, liberals, and weirdo socialists - plus the small anarchy circus. italy appears to have a different protest culture, one open to more confronation and violence. i think it also has to do with the police, who may enjoy the confronations themselves. here the police just enjoy having complete control over everything. i\'m sure they get a kick out of treating us like puppets and watching us fall in line everytime.

Otis I may not agree with your balance it out idea or quite understand it but where you go right is suggesting that more tactics be used against the police. Injurying or just taking that police officer out of the picture is a great idea. Blinding and beating em back is what I am saying. Yes, EUrope definently has a different protest background and specially down in the Southern areas of the EU. The main reason is their history and militant labor movement that is still alive unlike in the US but it is still up to us if we want to pull off some more militant actions but history does indeed help out. Maybe what they autonomous sectors within the US need to do is go through the stages and slowly work its way up or just say fuck it and in miami people just bloc up, march, confront the police, and take action!...

the struggle of the working class I see it is not MORE JOBS but TAKING CONTROL of our working situations. Quality of quantity. BURN DOWN THE EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES

The protest seemed mostly peaceful, if not a bit rowdier than the ones I\'ve participated in London. I had the feeling it would get a bit violent, but nothing serious...

I have a few peaceful photos here (more to come):

My photos of the parliment building protest was wholly peaceful. The protesters threw toilet paper at the poliza, but I did not hand around long enough to see the conclusion as I was merely a tourist in Roma (but highly interested in the protests).

Adecco is an American temporary employment company like ManPower Inc. Just like ManPower, Adecco has gone global.

Adecco, like other temp agencies, sells jobs. They profit off your labor more than just the regular capitalist bastards. The temp agency makes money off you for just giving you the job. They buy the jobs from the company hiring and sell it to you. They can make as much as 50% more per hour than you just because they bought the job listing. This is a double fuck.

Burn, motherfucker, burn!

well, it seems like the only way to have a confrontational protest culture/tradition is to use confrontational tactics.

in italy and greece, it is normal for protesters to take to the streets wearing helmets, using padding, throwing projectiles, and carrying sticks...

in the USA, we need months and months of consultas all over the country to implement the padded-bloc tactic. i think the padded-bloc expected in miami is a good step forward, but i just wish that something like this didn\'t have to be so damn planned and coordinated.

why don\'t people just show up to miami expecting confrontation? be prepared. bring your gear. and when you ACT, know that it\'s for our future, not theirs.

I think there may be too little support.. if one person shows up all decked-out in DIY pseudo-battle-gear and everyone else just wants to sell newspapers or chant, the riot police are just gonna grab the padded person and throw \'em in a van.. in north america we seem to work within very well-defined boundaries, sometimes ones that we create and sometimes ones that the police create...
