Quarterbacks for teams that are performing well always get too much credit. Quarterbacks for teams that are performing poorly always get too much blame. It has always been like this. Race has nothing to do with it. Rush adds very little value to ESPN.

We\'re at the point in society where a white person can\'t say the word \"black\" in association with anything negative. As soon as someone white person talks about race they are attacked, as if they have no right to. Limbaugh in no way said that McNabb\'s performance is tied to his race. He said that he felt that the sports media\'s desire to have a successful black QB inflated McNabb\'s stature as a QB more than he actually deserves. Instead of having an open discourse about the issues he raised, it\'s just \'ATTACK!\'.

As for Rush not adding value to the ESPN show, the ratings are up 10% this season.

If you knew anything about Rush Limbaugh, you\'d know that he believes in a truly colorblind society, one where people of all races are capable of doing great things without having to depend on favoritism.

Sorry, so-called \"Clear Thinker,\" but Limbaugh can\'t be defended on this. He made a racist remark and he\'s using his position of a media bully to normalize that racism. I listen to a lot of sports talk radio and I\'m familiar with the intelligent discussion that generally happens about race and sports in that medium. Limbaugh\'s comments belong to that variety of sports fan who happen to be racists and think they are clever by making these remarks. There\'s no way around this one, Limbaugh is suggesting that Donovan McNabb is being held to a different standard because he is a black quarterback.

Kind of reminds me of the time many years ago that I took a friend to a college basketball game, where he proceeded to point out to me that one team only had black players on the floor.

Racism manifests itself in some strange ways.

I\'M JUST SUPRISED IT TOOK AS LONG AS WEEK FOUR FOR THIS IDIOT TO SAYING SOMETHING STUPID. IF ANYONE HAS EVER LISTENED TO HIS TALK SHOW YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THIS MAN IS OUT OF CONTROL. ESPN HAS DEFINATELY PLAYED ITSELF BY HIRING THIS CLOWN. IT SEEMS THAT THE LINES BETWEEN SPORTS, ENTERTAINMENT, AND POLITICS HAS BECOME MORE BLURRED THAN EVER. HOWEVER, DESPITE RUSH AND HIS UNBRIDLED RACISM, ESPN SHOULD KEEP HIM ON THE SHOW. BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WHO AND WHERE THEIR ENEMY RESIDES. I LIKEN IT TO TRENT LOTT. APOLOGIES OR RESIGNATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. LET\'S KEEP THESE GUYS IN CLEAR VIEW. THEY SPOKE FROM THE HEART.

I\'M NOT A BIT SURPRISED HOW MUCH SUPPORT THIS BIGOT IS GETTING. IF HE CALLED ALL BLACK QB\'S NIGGERS THIS SITE WOULD BE FULL OF NEO-NAZI SUPPORTS WISHING HE WOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT!!! RUSH IS A DEVOUT RACIST AND WILL REMAIN ONE AS LONG AS SUCKERS LIKE YOU CONTINUE TO KISS HIS ASS AND BE HIS PERSONAL RUBBER STAMP!!!!!

That\'s funny, I talk about race all the time. I don\'t feel as though I\'m attacked by it.

Maybe that\'s becuase I don\'t generalize large populations of people based on their \"race\".

Actually, maybe it\'s just because I\'m not a racist asshole.

\"Clear Thinker\" is off base. I think most everyone would welcome an honest dialogue on race and whiteness amongst white people - it\'s a vital step towards understanding one\'s privilege and role in social change. We are not \"at the point in society where a white person can\'t say the word \'black\' in association with anything negative\", nor are we at the point where \"[a]s soon as someone (sic) white person talks about race they are attacked\", as s/he contends.

Where we are is at a point where white people who say ignorant or racist shit will be called on it and expected to re-evaluate it. It\'s a vulnerable position to be in that comes from giving up some of your power and being defensive is a typical reaction to it. However, in the end, those ignorant or racist attitudes need to change.

I think BLACKMAN makes some good points, and I particularly recognize the point about politics, entertainment and sports becoming blurred. There has always been politics in sports, but the entrance of someone like Rush to the arena is not a positive development.

Also on point: \"BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WHO AND WHERE THEIR ENEMY RESIDES\". True enough, and advice we can all benefit from, regardless of race.

Finally, if I\'m reading TK/BLACKMAN right, then I share his initial criicism, too. There are too many reactionary and almost right wing attitudes when it comes to race amongst white anarchists, both in general and on this site. This needs to change.

I sort of get the impression the network expected Rush to act like this and gave him a job so he would make whiny, racist ridiculous remarks like this to boost their ratings.

Frankly I think the quarterback handled the whole thing really gracefully. Rush\'s comment was clearly racist and -- to get analytical about it -- probably had the effect of reinforcing racist white supremacist thinking.

Ugg... I hope the earlier remarks are coming from trolls. If not, all I can say is to \"clear thinker\" is try to be a little more graceful about your priveleges as a white person. I\'m doubtful what you\'ve been through (and for all I know it may be alot) is even close to what most people of color have to deal with on a regular basis in terms of stupid bullshit.

Besides, being an anarchist means fighting for a world where people are free, equal AND treated with DIGNITY! So let\'s be dignified to each other to start with about how tough it is to be white. Sheesh!

Thanks

Doh... I mean let\'s stop complaining how tough it is to be white. It\'s a completely silly thing to even waste time talking about! There I\'ve wasted enough time already. Now let\'s go smash white supremacy!

\"Let he who is perfect cast the first stone.\"
If Rush had simply said that McNabb was overrated, no one would have said anything, but since he mentioned \"Black\", he is now being portrayed as a \"Hitler\", or a \"KKK\" member. Why can\'t all things be based in truly equal opportunity, and race be left out of it completely. I see racism coming from ALL races without exception. The level of coloration that I have does not make me any more or less superior or inferior than anyone else. There are so many who ARE bigots, and they should change. ANY discrimination by ANY race against another is WRONG. Let\'s have true consistency in our judgements and criticize anyone, black, yellow, red, white, blue or purple, who favors one color over another. In God\'s eyes, we\'re ALL THE SAME, and He\'s the only one who IS the judge. All the rest should look in the mirror and change themselves first!

\"More or Less Melanin\"-

I don\'t know about God\'s eyes, but in the eyes of the State we are certainly not \"ALL THE SAME.\" America\'s economic, social, and political structures all hinge, in part, upon the role played in society by whiteness and white supremacy.

I disagree strongly that there is \"racism coming from ALL races without exception.\" At a biological or philosophical level, race may not exist. Race is a social construct that in real life matters a great deal-- the White race is that which dominates all facets of our society. What I believe you see as racism against whiteness is in fact an attempt at destroying a particularly virulent power structure. I am in agreement with Necrotic State in that white people need an honest dialogue and reassessment of their position and privilege in society. And beyond that, that whites need to talk to people of color about how they can effectively attempt to undermine or betray their whiteness. (And no, you can\'t do it by growing dreadlocks.)

People like Rush who say racist shit need to be called on it, at the very least. There will be no freedom or equality as long as one group dominates another, be it political, economic, or RACIAL.

ESPN knew excatly what they were getting when they hired LIMPDICK,I knew he couldn\'t resist saying something that was racial in content. I was was willing to got vegas and wage some money that it would be in november before he said something stupid, he surprised me it only took late september. Typical right-wing conservative speil, they hide behind their racism in free-speech platitudes by quoting statistics and claiming with a straight face that they are not racist another example is Bill O\'reilly who does the same thing. Frankly I think that LIMPDICK should not be fired like Trent Lott i want to know who my enemies are and as Jesus said about a \"tree bearing friut \" this goes to show why african-american vote 80 % democrat not because they like the dems but they know that a a tree like conservative thinkers bear maggot-filled friut like LIMPDICK.

Your moniker (that\'s the term for your made up name, in case you don\'t know) stinks.

I\'m not interested in your skin color. It is irrevelant to your thoughts and deeds. What is relevant is your hate and bigotry.

I can\'t see you. I don\'t know or care how you appear to eyes and retinal images. I just read you -- and you sound ugly and like someone I should fear.

Yes, fear.

It isn\'t what goes into a man that defiles him, it\'s what comes out. And sir, you sound defiled and very untrustworthy.

You\'d love to know what my skin looks like, wouldn\'t you? And my wife\'s, too, I suppose... and my son\'s. That way you could use that information to determine useful ways of judging them, couldn\'t you? Well, I\'m afraid you\'ll just have to guess using the binary text interpretations I\'ve posted here to slander me.
