i wonder how 'general' this general strike will actually be. i wonder if there will be any rowdy demonstrations. i'm not in the USA right now, but from news articles and photos, i gather that the demonstrations by immigrants have been essentially tame and using a patriotic message. of course, it's understandable because being arrested at a street demonstration could mean deportation.
where is this all heading?
does anybody else feel like the radical left/anarchists have a habit of jumping on the bandwagon of issues rather than creating and fostering their own?

There are at least 100 demonstrations planned, Chicago organizers are expecting 500,000 to march. LA seems to be the center of this movement, while I don't know how many are expected to march, most Latinos will not be going to work and the LA harbor will be shut down. While not "general" by most countries standards, I think it's safe to say that millions of people will not be going to work, and that hasn't happened here since the '30s. The tone of the immigrants rights movement has changed dramatically in the last 3 weeks, I would say the moderate "leaders" had control of the April 10th actions, this is no longer the case. In Pheonix moderate groups tried to call off the local strike, but bowed to the pressure of grassroots organizing this week and now endorse it. I don't know about other places but where I live radicals have been welcomed into the movement, because people in struggle want other people to have their backs.
