500 to Finish Phase 1 of the Lakota Solidarity Project

Dear Friends and Family,

We are asking for your help in this fundraising appeal.  We are basically grounded for the final interviews until we get more funds. Please share this with your contacts, make phone calls to known funders, and help us to finish the interview and evidence collection phase of this project.  We will then have roughly a two month window to raise additional funds for the Lakota Truth Tour to the United Nations in New York and the US Government in Washington DC.   Thank you for everything you have done so far. Please help us finish this.  The current fund raising letter is below.  Hoka Hey!

**** 500 to Finish! ****

Dear Friends,

The first phase of the Strong Heart Lakota Solidarity Project (www.cantetenza/wordpress.com) is winding down. Working together in solidarity, we are moving towards international awareness of the ongoing human rights abuses and genocide of the Lakota people.

Over the last two months, we have interviewed grassroots Lakota elders and families, documented cultural activities to empower Lakota youth, followed Lakota activists and their allies in battles against genocide in White Clay, and outlined the environmental destruction of the Lakota's treaty territory at the hand of mining companies and corporate greed.

Our work is making a difference! Corrupt officials are afraid of our cameras, and people with something to hide are afraid of our exposure. Our work is so powerful, in our last three public efforts, the Solidarity Team has been physically threatened or attacked. The FBI has even stopped by to observe our work at the blockade in White Clay.

Despite these successes, we are struggling financially to complete the interview and evidence collection phase of the project. We are grounded with very little gas and food money.  In order to complete the remaining interviews with traditional elders and families on Pine Ridge, we need your help.

We are seeking $500 to finish this phase of our project and complete the remaining interviews and documentary needs. Please share $10, $20, or $50 towards this goal and know your support is making this revolutionary project a reality.

You can donate directly by visiting the frontpage of our webpage at www.cantetenza.wordpress.com and clicking on the Donation Button. For more information or to speak to someone directly, contact Thembi Blessington at 828-707-8619. In Asheville, contact Susan Carrara at 828-230-2900.

We are grateful for all of the support we have received to date. Without your donations, we would not have made it this far.  Working together, we can support the grassroots Lakota people in their struggle to end genocide. Act with us today!
